O que faz o Escoteiro Chefe?
Simples, estou lá para mostrar aos jovens de todo mundo que o Escotismo é o melhor modo de explorar o mundo, seguir seus sonhos e viver uma aventura. Os jovens me perguntam diariamente como aprender as habilidade que mostro em meu programa de TV e digo: “Torne-se escoteiro”. Meu papel é incentivar, incentivar e incentivar!

As pessoas reclamam sobre a juventude atual, mas aos jovens faltam oportunidades e não ambições. A vida é feita se agarrando a oportunidades e o escotismo faz a aventura disponível para todos. Os prêmios nem sempre vão para os maiores, melhores ou mais fortes – eles vão para os que perseveram. Estas são lições simples de vida que o escotismo ensina as pessoas.

Resume-se a adquirir habilidades para sobreviver a temperaturas abaixo de zero. É impressionante observar tantos jovens desenvolvendo-se e desfrutando de escalada, rappel, quadriciclos e arborismo – isto tudo no gélido Janeiro. Para isto é preciso coração e espírito, ambos fortemente presentes nos Escoteiros.

Quando criança o Escotismo me deu a confiança e companharismo, o que é dificil de se encontrar na vida moderna. As crianças no Reino Unido precisam de um sentimento de participação e de vida em comunidade mais do que nunca. Estou orgulhoso de ser o Escoteiro Chefe no maior movimento de jovens do mundo. É o maior privilégio que já tive – mais do que servir na Força Aérea ou escalar o Evereste.

Os princípios do Escotismo são similares; dizem respeito a uma vida empolgante e habilidades ao ar livre, e para isso é necessário o respeito ao próximo, a você mesmo e ao meio ambiente.

Bear Grylls served in the British Special Forces and was the youngest climber of this country to climb Everest.
In 2009, Grylls was proclaimed Chief Scout of the Scout Association (UK), and recently gave an interview, which can be read below.
What does the Chief Scout?Simple, I'm there to show young people around the world that Scouting is the best way to explore the world, follow your dreams and live an adventure. Young people ask me daily how to learn the skills that show on my TV show and say: "Become a Boy Scout." My role is to encourage, stimulate and encourage!
How long have you is Chief Scout?I started in 2009. The charge lasts for 5 years.
Bear Grylls is your real name?I was baptized as Edward. My sister gave me the nickname Bear (Bear) when I was a week and took it.
Scouting remains relevant today?People complain about today's youth, but youth lack opportunities and not ambitions. Life is all about grabbing opportunities and adventure Scouting is available to everyone. The awards do not always go for bigger, better or stronger - they go to those who persevere. These are simple lessons of life that Scouting teaches people.
Why are you looking for more volunteers?We are living an unprecedented membership growth and to meet the demand we need more adults and parents to volunteer as leaders. We will train them and help them to fit volunteering into their busy schedules.Often the adults enjoy scouting as much as young people.
Last week, 2500 young people were in the Boy Scout camp in the winter, what is this?Resume to acquire skills to survive temperatures below freezing. It is amazing to watch so many young people developing and enjoying climbing, rappelling, ATV and canopy - all this in the cold in January. For this is the very heart and spirit, both heavily present in the Scouts.
What led you to this position?Scouting as a child gave me the confidence and companharismo, which is hard to find in modern life. Children in the UK need a sense of participation and community life more than ever. I am proud to be the Chief Scout in the largest youth movement in the world. It is the greatest privilege I've ever had - more than serve in the Air Force or climb Everest.
How do you apply the lessons of life for this job?My work is about adventure and team work in some of the most inhospitable forests, mountains and deserts of the planet. If you can not take care of yourself and others, people die. The principles of Scouting are similar; relate to a very exciting life and outdoor skills, and this requires respect for others, yourself and the environment.
What is your leadership?Jump in, get your hands dirty, laugh at myself and not be afraid to have fun. And I hate meetings!
